Booth At Healthy Kids Day Fair

In Local News on March 10, 2009 at 7:44 am

The Daviess County TPC Coalition will have a booth at the YMCA Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA in Washington Saturday, March 21, from 10 to 1. We’ll have posters, signs, information, a tobacco roulette wheel, and opportunities to get involved with the anti-tobacco movement in our county.

We’re excited to be there to share information with parents … like the fact that children exposed to secondhand smoke in the home show signs of nicotine dependence and withdrawal. That makes it difficult to pay attention in school and can contribute to behavior problems. Kids whose parents smoke are also more likely to use tobacco themselves. Parents who want to quit smoking for the sake of their children can call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

The Healthy Kids Day fair will also be packed with games, sports contests, prizes and fun. There will be free popcorn and bottled water available, as well as inflatible games, swimming, face painting, crafts, vision screening, blood pressure checks and scoliosis check. Come on out and enjoy some free family fun!
