Hearing On Smokefree Workplaces Bill

In State News on February 9, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Check out this Indianapolis Star article.

This bill was discussed last week and may come up for a vote next week. Seems to me there was a great show of support for this bill.

What struck me was that the opposition said they were not there to debate about the detrimental health effects of second hand smoke. Their main argument was that bars will lose business if they have to go smokefree. The only studies that come to this conclusion are funded by the tobacco industry itself. Their argument is pretty flimsy when you look at what similar legislation has done in 24 other states — and the fact that around 60 percent of voters support this legislation.
