DCH On Board With Smokefree Workplace Legislation

The Daviess Community Hospital board has signed a resolution supporting smokefree workplace legislation. The hospital has been a great leader locally on the smokefree front; their campus is smokefree, and they work hard to help patients quit. In fact, they are working now to start cessation classes for people who want to quit.

Rep. Charlie Brown will introduce a bill in the house this session banning smoking in workplaces including bars, restaurants and casinos. Indiana needs this legislation because not only would it protect the lives of employees nad customers, it would save us millions in healthcare costs. Dave Crooks, the former representative for this area, has expressed support for this bill, as has current representative Mark Messmer.
